Ingredients
- 1lb ground beef
- Smithey Wok
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp flour
- 2 Tbsp + tsp avocado or olive oil
- ½ to 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-2 Thai chives, thinly sliced (or ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes)
- ¼ cup coconut aminos
- 1 Tbsp fish sauce
- 1 cup fresh packed Thai basil (or regular basil) leaves
- 2 cups cooked rice, for serving (optional)
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro leaves
Directions
- In a large nonstick skilet, heat 2 tablespoons of avocado oil over high heat. Brown the ground beef. Season with the salt, pepper, and flour. Set aside
- Reduce the heat to medium and add the onion, bell pepper, garlic, Thai chiles. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are very tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Return the beef to the skillet. Add the coconut aminos and fish sauce, then stir to combine.
- Simmer, stirring, until the sauce reduces and thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the basil leaves until wilted, about 1 minute.
- Spoon over cooked rice, if desired, and top with fresh cilantro before serving.
