Ingredients

  • Smithey Dutch Oven
  • 1 ¼ Day-Old French or Sourdough Bread
  • 1qts. + 8oz Whole Milk(1qt. Half&half. The rest Whole Milk)
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 ½ Sugar
  • 1/8 Cup or 6 tps. Vanilla
  • ½ Stick Butter melted
  • 1 Cup of Sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Stick of Melted Butter
  • ⅓ Wellows Whiskey

Directions

  1. Mix milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and butter and pour over bread. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes. Keep pushing the bread down into the liquid. Bake at 375 degrees till brown and puffy. Serve warm or at room temperature with sauce.
  2. In saucepan, cream together sugar, egg, butter, and Wellows Whiskey(increase or decrease to taste)
  3. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly with whisk until all sugar is dissolved. After it comes to a boil over low heat, boil for about 1 minute, whisking constantly. Pour over pudding or serve on the side. I pour over bread and pull bread away from sides and pour some there so it will soak in all over.
